Purpose of the position
The driver/data capturer will work closely with project/program staff in the dist
rict within a community and/or facility setting in driving the digital Chest X-Ray container for TB screening. The successful candidate will also assist with the transportation of teams for client and household contact tracing in communities. In addition to driving, the successful candidate will offer general administration duties, data capturing, assist with event logistics, vehicle maintenance, observing all road safety and traffic laws. (This is a contract position renewable based on funding)
As per our funding agreement, no employees who are currently working for DOH will be considered.
Minimum Requirements
• Grade 12 / Matric
• Tertiary qualification would be advantageous
• 2 years driving experience
• Valid Code: 10 driver’s license with Professional Driving Permit (PDP)
• 2 years’ experience in data collection, capturing, updating, and/or maintaining electronic databases
• Experience working in a donor-funded environment
• Experience working with Department of Health information systems such as DHIS and/or Tier.Net will be advantageous
• Computer literate and the use of Microsoft office package (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook)
• Fluency in English and isiZulu languages
• Knowledge of the geographical area of KCD
• Clear criminal record
Duties and Responsibilities
• Perform data collection and data capturing activities in the Digital Chest X-Ray container
• Monitoring and evaluation – collect and verify data against source documents to ensure data quality
• Reporting – ensure that basic reports (weekly, monthly and ad-hoc reports are submitted on time)
• Build and maintain good relationships by ensuring that teams and vehicles are safe during community outreach activities (adhere to all road safety and traffic laws)
• Conduct daily vehicle inspections, roadworthy inspections and maintains the vehicle and escalate problems to management
• Maintain daily transportation log and ensure petrol slips are submitted timeously
• Complies with organizational policies regarding vehicles
• Ensure that emergency numbers are listed in the vehicles
• Assist with event logistics and delivery of commodities to facilities within the district
